The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee (RNM) is a gendarmerie corps, a police organisation with military status. The Ministry of Justice and Security has authority, the Ministry of Defense is responsible for the management. Characteristics of the RNM are:

  • National and international deployment
  • Deployment in threat situations
  • Deployment at the high end of the spectrum of force

Main tasks of the RNM are:

  • Border control and border surveillance (e.g. at Schiphol Airport)
  • Military police, military missions and police missions
  • Security & surveillance incl. civil aviation security, the Royal Family and the national bank.

In D4FLY, especially the “Expertise Centre for Identity fraud and Documents” (ECID) is involved, which is part of the RNM.
