Trilateral Research (TRI) is a London and Ireland-based SME. It specialises in research and the provision of policy, regulatory and certification advice and recommendations for new technologies and systems. Trilateral has a long record of successful project involvement on the privacy, social, ethical, and legal impacts of new data practices and innovation. We have expertise in assessing impacts and risks, and evaluating systems to suggest solutions to enhance innovation whilst ensuring responsible practices. We have been working with the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) since the first drafts in 2011, and we have GDPR certified research analysts experienced in Data Protection Impact Assessments and helping to support the implementation of the GDPR. We regularly work with a variety of stakeholders ranging from technical specialists, policy-makers and citizen groups in order to contextualise this work. In addition, Trilateral designs, develops and evaluates data analytics tools with a special focus on transforming data into actionable information for industrial, institutional and policy stakeholders. This technical competence informs our privacy and data protection work, to ensure a complementarity between social science and technical expertise across all our activities.
