Border Security 2020 – Rome, IT

Prof. James Ferryman from our partner University of Reading organized a workshop on Monday 10th February in Rome, supported by D4FLY, on: “Countering Emerging Threats in Document and Identity Verification in Border Security”.

The workshop was part of the SMi 13th Annual Border Security 2020 Conference that took place in Rome on the 11th and 12th February 2020.

Mr. Martin George – Identity Systems and Technology Consultant, Camtech Consulting – and Mr. Graeme P. van Voorthuijsen – TNO Researcher – were the main presenters and facilitators of the workshop.

The workshop started with a general presentation of the D4FLY concept and vision followed by a Q&A session. An invited talk was also given by Martin George, on behalf of OVD Kinegram, on “Combatting Document Fraud at Borders”.

EU project PERSONA was also presented by Mr. Philip Engstrom, R&D Co-Ordinator from the Swedish Police Authority. The workshop closed with a roundtable discussion on Use Case scenarios in the context of:

Document fraud: vulnerabilities and countermeasures
Biometrics on-the-move: challenges and solutions
